Spring 2012 California Standards Test (CST) Grade Incentives
The CST/STAR exams are given in May. The results will be mailed home to each student in August. After reviewing the results, if your CST test scores appear to qualify for a possible grade increase then...
- The student must contact the previous fall semester teacher in the specific subject area in which the incentive is being offered. The student must contact the appropriate teacher by the deadline established which will be announced at the start of the school year.
- (If the teacher is no longer at SJHHS, students may contact the department chair.)
- Remember, the grade incentive is not automatic and it is the student’s responsibility to see the teacher in order to receive any possible grade incentive increase—no late requests will be honored.

2012/2013 Timeline for Grade Incentive
The CST Grade Incentive is valid between October 1st, 2012 to October 19th, 2012. The student will be responsible to provide a form to the appropriate teacher from the previous year. If that teacher is no longer at SJHHS, the student must submit the form to the current Department Head. All forms must be submitted to the teacher within the established deadline. The teacher will complete the form as soon as possible and return the form directly to the Registrar no later than November 2nd, 2012.
Eligibility
Please download the 2011/2012 Grade Incentive document for specific details within each department. Students are eligible to recieve the SJHHS grade incentive if they have taken the CST exam during their previous academic year at a traditional CUSD high school campus. Students may qualify during their 10th, 11th, or 12th grade year.
Students do not qualify if they did not the exams, do not have previous CST Scores from a private school, or transfered from an out out of state school.
Incentive Process
The STAR/CST Grade Incentive window opens on Monday, October 1st and will remain open through Friday, October 19th, 2012. The student will be responsible to provide a CST Grade Incentive form to the appropriate teacher from the previous year. If that teacher is no longer at SJHHS, the student must submit the form to the current Department Head. All forms must be submitted to the teacher within the established deadline. Please remember, the grade incentive is not automatic and it is the student’s responsibility to contact the teacher in order to receive any possible grade incentive increase—no late requests will be honored.
STAR/CST Grade Incentive Process
- Student reviews STAR/CST report that was mailed home in August. Student verifies their qualification for the incentive based on individual department criteria for the CST Grade Incentive.
- CST Grade Incentive forms will be available to students in the front office and guidance office. We also encourage students to download the forms on our STAR/CST Incentive web page at STAR/CST Grade Incentive. (Availalbe for download in October)
- The student will write their name and circle their current grade level on the CST Grade Incentive form and attach a copy of their STAR/CST report to the CST Grade Incentive form. The student then turns the form and CST report in to their 2011-2012 teacher in each area in which they meet the criteria for the incentive.
- Teacher verifies CST score and approves or denies grade incentive.
- Teacher fills out CST Grade Incentive form for those students that qualify and submits to the Guidance office.
- A list will be posted each Friday on the Guidance Office window that lists all students who have received a grade incentive bump. If a student’s name is not on the grade incentive list, they did not qualify for the incentive and should see the teacher for clarification.
Thank you for your help with this process and your support of our students.
