San Juan Hills Athletic Performance Mission Statement
Our mission is to improve strength, power, and speed in our teams as a whole, and the individual level. We want our athletes to be able to apply what they gained in the weight room on the playing field. There is a huge emphasis on teamwork, leadership, accountability, and competition. We want our student athletes to gain much more from participating in athletics here at San Juan Hills High School than gaining strength and winning games. We are building character, and work ethic in all of our athletes, which will follow them into college and their professional careers.
Our goal is to make San Juan Hills High School one of the best all around sports programs in South Orange County. We want athletes to leave San Juan Hills High School knowing they had the best opportunity to maximize their individual potential.
HOW WE WILL SUCCEED IN OUR MISSION:
Training Methods:
1) Correctly cycling athletes through different phases of training
2) Using single and multi joint exercises to improve strength and power
3) Functional training that emphasizes movements, not just muscles
4) Teaching proper lifting techniques
5) Strengthening all joints and muscles in order to prevent injury during competition.
Mental Conditioning:
1) Building discipline in the athletes to follow instructions given by coaches as well as teammates.
2) Giving Leadership duties to everyone on the team, not just a select few.
3) Being prepared for every lift/conditioning session, and giving 100% effort whether anyone is watching or not.
4) Teaching to be accountable for your team as well as yourself
5) Truly caring about the team’s growth/unity.
Performance:
1) Being prepared physically and mentally for each game/match.
2) Emphasis on Competing and not winning.
3) Athletes being able to execute what they practiced/learned during their actual competition.
4) NEVER giving up, and giving 100% effort every single play
5) Being about the TEAM’S success, not INDIVIDUAL glory
6) WINS will come naturally if these phases are focused on.
